　　“Now let’s go,to Spot37.”She led me through the woods,then crossed a shallow stream,dived into a crevasse passing a deep narrow tunnel,finally into a small cave.I felt like something shining upwards.She smiled and said that the cave was under a swimming pool.

　　“Ah ha,can’t the water flow down and bury us?”I asked.She shook her head,“The proof uses strengthened glass.”Then she drew out a suit of thick clothes,“Put it on,then you can be the cashier robot,got it?”

　　I nodded my head,watching her fetching another special thing——necklace?Oh no,something like necklace and I had to wear it around my waist!

　　“Sounds like a funny thing.”I replied,with a rigid smile.

　　“It will send out regular electronic wave indicating you are a real robot.”

　　I sighed and put on those costumes.It went thinner immediately and covered my skin smoothly.“Perfect inventions!I’d like to play a robot in New Year’s Party!”I turned round,put on a smile.

　　She seemed to be worried.“Tony,I can’t promise the future of our world.”

　　“You mean the conflict between humans and robots?”I asked seriously,“Well,maybe not so urgent.Short-terms solutions must have been brought out.Eh,further ones,at least I have one.”

　　She closed her eyes,said,with sorrow and worry:“Two centuries ago,humans did things by themselves.Then robots came into being to take over the manual work.People began to enjoy easier life.They only exercised in gym.Because of robot babysitters,there were more children.The population raised and a small fraction of workers lost their jobs.However,other people ignored their misfortunes.Several decades ago,robots with higher intelligence challenged to take over brain works.Soon the unemployment rate met a sharp rise.The government decided to provide better welfare and construct better city environment so that everyone equally enjoyed the benefits of civilization.Those few people among the losers who saw the truth were ignored again because their silly fellows compromised.”She shook her head,“Now tell me,what your job is at the time?”

　　“Fortunately I major in robotic science in my college so I got a job to repair robots——such as cashier,or something like that.”I pointed to myself.

　　She hesitated for a moment,finally told me about her situation.

　　“My father got a very good student called Kerry eight years ago,very excellent and polite.Kerry became my dad’s assistant5years later and joined the most secret work in our laboratory,the project999,which aimed to find out the terminative distinction between human and robots.I was away for a school trip then received a call from my father saying it’s going to be finished.But when I returned,Kerry said was not that easy and they failed at the last point.I felt worried that something terrible might happen in time.Four months passed,I was about to abandon my worries when I heard the death of my dad.”She wiped her eyes,tears streaming down her cheek,“Kerry disappeared after that.I know he must be seeking for me so I had to hide.Would you help me?”She begged in a low voice.

　　“That’s no problem.But how did you know me?”I asked surprisingly.

　　“You wrote several science fictions and published,didn’t you?”She answered.

　　“Oh,you may not judge a person by his jokes.”I was embarrassed.

　　“From now on,we are teammates.”She stated,”I’ll collect some new information then we’ll check upon our next plan.”

　　“May I know what is it?”I sat down.

　　“Find Kerry,then kill him.”She raised her head,looking into my eyes directly.
