  • "what is it mommy?" you asked worriedly.
"oh my god, y/n, i'm so sor-" she started. you cut her off before she could finish.
"mommy whats wrong?" you asked frantically. she looked over at your father briefly before lowering her eyes back to yours.
"your father and i have an appointment today at work," she explained calmly, squeezing your hands as tightly as she possibly could. you felt her hands tremble beneath your own. "we're leaving as soon as breakfast is finished, and we'll be back as soon as we can."
"oh, okay," you replied, although you sounded somewhat confused. "um.. are you sure you should go? you know that the police will have our names on their list for what happened today, and the police aren't gonna stop until they find us."
your parents both froze, their eyes growing wider than you' d ever seen them grow before.
"you don't mean those idiots," your mother gasped, her eyes wide with fear. your father quickly nodded vigorously.
"yes. yes we do. we have to find you y/n," he insisted. you gave a nod of understanding.
you glanced over at your mother, who had become more pale the longer the discussion progressed. she gave you a quick smile in return before getting up and heading towards your room.
as soon as she had left the kitchen, you turned back to stare at your father. you opened your mouth to speak, but decided against it, choosing instead to remain silent. the look on your father's face frightened you, to say the least. it scared you enough to make you feel sick to your stomach.
"how long have you known?" you asked, almost desperately. your father swallowed hard, looking away and shaking his head.
"since yesterday evening," he muttered quietly. you nodded slowly.
"why didnt you tell me?" you asked softly. his gaze flew to meet yours.
"because we promised her we wouldn't interfere," he answered quickly. you bit your lower lip and closed your eyes briefly. you understood now why he had tried to keep things under wraps. you knew he didn't want to see you upset because of something he couldn' t control.
"so it really was you then," you mumbled bitterly. your father nodded, not saying a word as he averted his gaze again. "do you even care that you hurt me? that you caused me such harm?" he finally looked back up at you, causing you to look directly into his eyes.
"i'm sorry..." was all he managed to mutter out.
"then get out. you've already lost your daughter once before, don' t make it twice," you said sternly. you stood up, wiping a tear away from your eye as you glared harshly at him.
      "y/n please-"
"no dad! stop treating me like a child! you've never cared about me!" you shouted, raising your voice slightly. you clenched your fists tightly, fighting back the urge to cry. you felt tears threatening to fall and your heart ached painfully, begging for your father to tell you everything was fine, but it never would. not after everything that had happened between the two of you.
you knew that your parents had their reasons for being afraid. you knew that you wouldn't have any other friends at school if your parent's relationship wasn't perfect, if your parents hadn't kept things together since the very beginning. you knew that if your mother found out that her husband had hurt his only child, she would most likely kill him herself.
but you couldn' t accept it. you couldn't. your life would be ruined if your mother found out. you didn' t want to see what would happen to your life if she did.
"listen to me," your father said pleadingly, standing up as well. you took a step backward in surprise. you could feel your breath catch in your throat at his sudden movement, unable to move for fear of making a scene. "please listen." you closed your eyes briefly as you continued to hear nothing but silence behind you, listening carefully for any sign of anything. when you were convinced that he had stopped talking again, you opened your eyes and slowly turned around, meeting his gaze again. he seemed to hesitate slightly, but you saw that same look in his eyes that you always saw on your mother's face when she was trying her hardest to hide how worried she actually was.
      he cleared his throat softly.
"i never meant to cause any problems between the two of you," he started to explain quietly, placing his hands firmly on your shoulders, staring down at you with his large brown eyes. "but when y/n told me about your condition, I just had to see it myself. i'm so sorry, but this isn't something that anyone should be involved in... it's dangerous, and if i know you as well as i think i do..."
