The Psychologist and Rene
‘Is he here?” After finished lunch, doctor came back to the office and he asked his secretary.
“Yes, he’s here.” His secretary looked directly into his eyes, nodded to him and suddenly lowered her voice:” Wow, is it the leader of the Falcons?’’ Then she looked into the inner office, winked her eyes which full of curiosity.
Doctor was a little shock that his secretary seems a little over reacted about this patient which made he glace into his office thought the opening door. However only half of the hindbrain was seen behind the black leather chair. He had to give a powerless look to his secretary and holding all the materials came in the office.
Two days ago, the secretary told Doc Jason that Rene had called to fix the time of treatment.
“Who? Who’s Rene?”
“The Rene from the Falcons.” from the speaker the secretary told him and also reminded him this case was proposed by the government. She waited for doctor’s answer that if the doctor himself picked up the phone that meant it definitely would be a very important case or at lease related with a fatal client.
“How could he call so late?” Jason waved his head thinking that it had been almost 2 weeks since the result of that case was declared but the litigant just made the phone. But Jason didn’t pick up the phone but just instructed: “Fix a standard course of treatment following their tradition. Make an appointment with him.”
In fact, all through his physiologist career life, he met lots of agents, some of which were from the Falcons, so he could figure this case out in substance.
Jason came into his office. The man inside was facing the window left his back to the door while all the room was so quite that only the air-conditioner made the room full of coldness.
“Agent Rene?’ Jason came to his own seat facing the litigant who seems just awoke and just discovered the doctor had come in, but turned around quickly.
“Doctor Jason, I am sorry that I came a little earlier.” Speaking in a light but low voice he politely stood up.
Jason was obviously shocked that this man was not a hunk like he thought but seemed extremely elegant with about only six feet and two inched (approximately 186 cms, cool I love tall guys hehe) which was a little short among those guys in the Falcons.
He suddenly understood why his secretary was so over reactive. Yes, such a guy by the first sight how could he be a leader of the Falcons.
The man wore a suit of dark blue which was very normal, but on him even the suit seems more outstanding. However Jason could not tell why it was outstanding on him.
After meeting each other, both of him sited down.
Jason reckoned the eyes from the other side. The pair of eyes was clear, calm, and tender just like the water of a summer lake under the shade of trees because of which Jason cannot figure out what as the same time under this pair of eyes.
But when the man looked up from the other side, the gaze was like shining light beaming down. Suddenly Jason found out that there was some sort of brilliance on this man which could be so conspicuous that no matter came into a function or some where else could be apparently attractive. That was something he never got from the other cobs he had dealings with. Under this normal suit hides a feature of unseeingly composed grace but Jason sensed it.
He thereby seems fit into hanging in various receptions under defined stage light , how can imagine such a guy was fundamentally the very person who in the materials was so reputed as the leader of the Falcons.
In their conversation, the man in the facing chair moved and bent one arm on the armrest incidentally displayed his muscles on his chest and arms, which made Jason, realized this man was not that fragile like he seemed.
It went much smoothly during this cure course during which the agent surprisingly co-operated well, too harmonious that out of imagination. He gave a matched answer for every question.
When it processed half of the course, Jason realized this was merely an illusion however it obviously revealed a seemingly active but genuinely more realistic more negative attitude.
Therefore, after a period of cure, Jason felt exasperated that they were just playing hide-and-seek with each other.
In the treating room, they again trapped in the same snare kept on the same conversation pattern.
“Now we are back again. I am not discussing with you about crime and punishment, we are talking about you, what made you so impetuous? Normally, you wouldn’t break the rule; you would never have killed that guy after he let the weapon down giving himself up. But you did it, which definitely exposed that in that situation you lost your rationality.
“Let me tell you a story.” Rene went all the way told a joke.
“Shall we focus on you again?” After this joke, Jason didn’t laugh at all then he glanced at his watch which pointed it was only ten minutes till the due time.
That afternoon, they spent a large half time talking about dynamics that government putting on the punishment for crimes, and then Rene told two jokes about his team. That was all what they did in the afternoon.
Jason had to look this guy up and down again, and he had changed his impressions about this guy, nosing out this guy absolutely was smart but rather obstinate.
Every time when he tried to discovery deeper side of this guy, he always threw out a standard answer, perfunctory
If this case was given to a less experienced doctor, all the answers given by this guy may hoodwinked, but Jason, never.
He even was quite sure this guy exactly knew this game rule and meaning of every story every action.
If it kept on going like this, it meant they were just wasting the time.
That guy was just like covering by an unseen shell, that’s the core of this case.
“Rene, I hope you can understand that I never sign an appraisal without concern.” Jason spoke again but this time in a low voice,” I know that you understand clearly about psychology. But if you can handle all the things by yourself, you may not sit here facing me.”
“I understand, this is your job and to charge.” Rene had discovered the warning in the words and sited back again in the chair.” Let just complete our own part, that’s all. Shall we?” Rene gazed at him in reply showing his indication.
And both in opposite positions contemplated each other.
“Rene, I will arrange another more cure course.” Jason went on to look into the pair of eyes in front of him and suddenly he found that guy’s rage.
But that guy just murmured some words and quickly restrained his mood,” What ever, doctor! But I hope that will not waste both of our time!”
“Rene, I am helping you. But if you refuse other’s help, no one can help you out.” Jason was serious, looking at that guy, never giving up.
“You know I can give an appraisal which shall not be the one you want.” He went on looking into that pair of eyes.
That guy replying looked back at Jason shut up.
After a long period, the guy chinned up and re-opened his mouth;” Doctor, do you think you can solve my problem? Or just like massage to make me feel moments relax?” His words were rude which Jason didn’t care, what did Jason cared was that the guy finally talked, which was important over the others.
“Many times, after carrying out tasks, you gave a hand to them and made them released.” Rene said.
“You offered them attitude for preparing, many kinds of attitudes or modes of psychology, like preparing bullets for guns. And this made them reface new life.” He kept on.
“However, everyone got numberless things all through the childhood, passing away; can you solve all the problems in their whole life?”
“Have you ever realized that in several years, when all the failed experiences reminded back in the brain to these so-called released men, how do you define your resolution today?
“Or maybe it seems the problems are over, when they go out of this door, they still bring those problems in deep heart like a huge broken hole down into the heart.”
“Everyone got past, everyone got his imprison, you and me are not except.”
They still glared at each other.
“Jason, for some cases, only the time and problems themselves can solve, no other ways works.”
“Jason, I do not need massage at all.” He said in a low voice.
“It is not because I do not believe in you. I never doubt your works value. But, I can’t…”Rene slowly waved his head deeply look at the doctor’s eyes steadily. Jason knew that he meant this method was not the way which can be relied on to solve his problem.
“Those real empty maybe exit on a few people. But if they can solve their problems depending on this cure course, those can not be called problems at all.”
This by no means reminded Jason his old friend Anton, reminded the killer related with Anton’s case.
Both of them were silent again but still watching each other.
“Sorry, Doctor. Please forgive me for my rudeness. You know that in my understanding, your work is like a programmer.” Rene hesitated but still spoke out.
Jason nodded, and he understood of Rene. Sometimes indeed, his work really a little like a programmer. The different was he decoded the psychological bugs. He had to read out and make it back to its original form no matter his side intended to say or just potentially suggested. Sometimes he used common mode, sometimes he worked out in a very private way just like those different kinds of computer languages. Novelists only vaguely betrayed, but he has to analyze them and make them into modes and formulas.
“Actually speaking, we just taking different part using different ways, we dealing with those dangers beyond social principals and you…” Rene made a gesture and stopped speaking.
“So, taking about crimes and punishment, it is about comparing and absolution.”
Jason felt Rene’s words was not that simple but he got his own logic.
Rationality and un-rationality, intellect and madness, between each relation there is only a step to go. The only boundary is the table between them. The guy deal with stuff over the boundary and Jason kept charge those beyond the boundary.
“You see, we have the same aim, and then please tell me after so many days of conversations, do you really think I am dangerous enough to hurt others?”
“The danger towards you is danger too….”Jason answered calmly after a period of staring at that guy who got stupefied on heard of his words and shutting up.
“You never like doctors?” Jason looked up at him.
“Yes, but maybe you could be except.” Rene looked back.
Their hide-and-seek game finally broke the ice.
After this time, Jason told his secretary:” If Rene called again, put him in directly.”
“Sure.”
“Thanks’”
In the following course, Jason continually changed his curing methods.
“Today we play chess.” Jason said.
“I do not know how to play chess.” Rene replied but still grassed one piece.
“Why do not join in the group therapy?” Jason asked after he moved a step.
“No.” Rene said after stepping getting in two steps.” If you want a reason, I may say I have no time.”
“Why don’t you like psychologists?”
“I have no idea. Ok, perhaps, when I was a kid a psychologist had harassed me and left bad effect. Look, hurt from childhood. Isn’t that conformed to your principals?” Holding a piece he lightly said.
“Next reason?” Jason thought a second, looked at the chess and ate one pawn of Rene’s.
“All right. I had a girlfriend who was dead which made me afraid to be in a curing room or afraid to go over the passing even talk about the fact.”
Rene moved a bishop for a step, and directly said “Or, in fact I am a gay, who is in love with a psychologist.”
“It is not ridiculous at all.” Jason looked at Rene.
“OK. It is not ridiculous. Can I admit defeat? I do not know how to play chess.”
“But obviously you did good job on it, it is still too early to tell who ganna win.” After that, they just stood up only left an opening chessboard.
“What’s wrong?” Jason saw some sparkles in Rene’s eyes.
Rene was looking around the room.
At the same time it is suddenly dim in this room only some light shadowed its shade under the cabinets. And a tuft of light lay down beside the chessboard reflecting a little misty dust in the air.
“It been years since the last time I played chess.” Rene said haltingly, “In fact, I have played chess with only one person.”
On this very second, some familiar feeling exactly hit him again.
************************************
Jason indeed extended the curing course and put hypnotic suggestion on Rene hoping to find the answers.
Rene still followed his step actively.
He had made seven times hypnotic suggestions on Rene, and it was the Seventh and the last time for Rene’s curing courses.
It was just the beginning when Rene had showed sleeping status but Jason suddenly stopped the metronome and put it away.
“Rene, if you refuse every time, curing can’t effect at all. How many times did you disguise?”
Rene sat up and said;” Every time.”
He admitted and touched his hair.
“You should know that if you resist any more I can not keep on curing.” Jason gave up.
“I am sorry. You know I don’t mind keeping on like this. I do not like handling cases, but----“Rene delivered the case report beside to Jason who hesitated for a second but received it and signed after checking the calendar.
“Rene, you have problems which you refuse to tell. Today you do not make it out, but sooner or later it will make you out deadly.” Jason put the pen back to the brush port.
Rene got his case report and he was surprised this time that the closing date Jason signed was a month ago. And he thanked Jason for this.
“If you have any problem, you can find me any time whatever the problem is.” Jason watching the guy leaving and never expected that guy would return.
