6、Entertaining vs Educational

　　This movie is not only entertaining but educational. I,, have watched the Shawshank redemption over five times, I still can learn something new each time. Director Frank Darabont tells us with hope and determination, we surely can overcome any obstacles we confront in our life. The protagonist, Andy Dufresen’s optimistic belief of life at the hopeless prison overwhelmed me. Compared with Andy’s torment / agony, the so-called heavy study load is not worth mentioning at all. We should stop complaining and appreciate the rare opportunity to study in such a good environment.

　　I think a good movie should include following elements, take the Shawshank redemption as an example. First of all, the plot or the story should be refreshing. It is hard for me to imagine prison life. When I watched this movie the first time, it was just like revealing an unknown part of the world to me. Although I was a little frightened by the ugly and corrupt facts of what a real prison is, it is no denying that this special setting me in the first place. Moreover, the main theme includes positive attitude of life. The story stands out from routine everyday life. The main theme is so inspiring. And how a director delivers the message also affects whether this movie is worth watching or not. The message should not be too direct nor too subtle. Some twists and turns in the plot interspersed in the main storyline can upgrade a movie’s complexity. Acting, editing and background setting are also some key elements of a good movie. I don’t expect all my anticipations are present in every movie, but the film should at least give the audience the feeling that the ticket is worth its price.
