I learned about the experiences of Helen Keller and her teacher, Anne Sullivan. It really touched my heart, and I was full of tears after reading their stories.
I couldn’t imagine how Helen could survive with no sight and no hearing. If I were her, I would never have picked myself up. However, Helen not only lived well but also grew into an author and a speaker. The most unbelievable part is that she had been unable to talk for a long time. How did she manage to do that? One of the most important reasons was her teacher, Anne Sullivan.
Mrs. Sullivan was a great teacher and a kind companion for Helen. Helen’s life was almost shone by her. Anne Sullivan—we could even say Anne Sullivan herself—was like a sun, shining on Helen and making her shine like a diamond. When Helen was only 7, Anne came into her life and taught her words, manners, and love with a hugely patient heart.
“Every morning, when I wake up, my first thought is to look for my dear teacher and kiss her beautiful face,” Helen said.
Anne stayed with Helen for forty-three years. They were companions to each other.
Now, I’m going to read the book called Three Days to See by Helen.I am inspired by Helen and her teacher Anne. Their spirits will encourage me throughout my life.
