1、第 1 章 Light ...

  • Light,o where is the light?

Kindle it with the burning fire of desire.

The is the lamp but never a flicker of flame,

      - is such thy fate my heart! Ah death were better by far for thee.

      Misery knocks at thy door,

and her massage is that lord is wakeful,

and he calls thee to the love tryst though the darkness of the night.

The sky is overcast with clouds and the rain is ceaseless.

I know not what this is that stirs in me-I know not it meaning.

A moment\'s flash of lightning drags down a deeper gloom my sight,

and my heart gropes for the path to where the music of the night calls me.

Light, oh where is the light?

Kindle it with the burning fire of desire!

It thunders and the wind rushes screaming through the void.

The night is black as black as a black stone.

Let not the hours pass by in the dark.

Kindle the lamp of love with thy life!

      ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

      Thou hast made me endless,

      such is thy pleasure.

The frail vessel thou emptiest again and again,

and fillest it ever with fresh life.

This little flute of a reed thou hast carried over hills and dales,

and hast breathed through it melodies eternally new.

At the immortal touch of thy hands my little heart loses its limits in joy and gives birth to utterance ineffable.

Thy infinite gifts come to me only on these very small hands of mine.

Ages pass, and still thou pourest, and still there is room to fill.

thou hast made me endless, such is thy pleasure,

the frail vessel thou emptiest again and again,

and fillest it ever with fresh life,

You are in my heart, like the violet blossoming.

      ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

      My flowers were like milk and honey and wine;

I bound them into a posy with a golden ribbon,

but they escaped my watchful care and fled away and only the ribbon remains.

My songs were like milk and honey and wine,

they were held in the rhythm of my beating heart,

but they spread their wings and fled away,

the darling of the idle hours,

and my heart beats in silence.

The beauty I love was like milk and honey and wine,

her lips like the rose of the dawn, her eyes bee-black.

I kept my heart silent lest it should startle her,

but she eluded me like my flowers and like my songs,

      and my love remains alone.

      ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hold thy faith firm, my heart, the day will dawn.

The seed of promise is deep in the soil, it will sprout.

Sleep, like a bud, will open its heart to the light,

and the silence will find its voice.

The day is near when thy burden will become thy gift,

and thy sufferings will light up thy path.

      -------------------------------------------------------------------------
trust love even if it brings sorrow. do not close your heart

ah, my friend, your words are dark, i cann\'t understand it.

the heart is only for giving away, with a tear and a song, my love

ah, my friend, your words are dark, i cann\'t understand it.

pleasure is frail like a dew-drop, while it laughs, it die,

but sorrow is strong and abiding, let sorrowful love wake in your eyes.

ah, my friend, your words are dark, i cann\'t understand it.

the lotus bloom in the sight of the sun and loses all that it has,

it would not remain i bud in the eternal winter mist.
