I know the world is marvelous and I know it is actually more marvelous than I think. However, not everybody appreciates the beauty and magic of the world expect the philosophers and loafers like you and I.
A great man once said.
My mother once tell me a story, which her father had told her. Now I would like to share it with you.
It was a dark silent night. Stars were shining in the sky, while moonlight softly floated into the little baby’ s bedroom. Mother coaxed her baby to sleep by telling him stories with sweet voice.
“Mom, can you tell me one more story Then I will go to sleep.” the baby asked.
“No, honey. It’s too late tonight. You don’t want to bother Mrs.Smith‘ s sleep, do you ”
“Mom, can I ask you a question before you go ”the baby’ s starry eyes were shining.
“Sure, but just one.” mom showed a tender smile.
“Mom, where did human come from I mean who created them ”
“I am sorry, but I really don’t know, baby.” mother touched her baby’ s head
“There are just too many stories about him, the Creator. Some say human was created by God, some say a woman created human by mud, and some say they actually are monkeys. None was proved.”
“Ummm, that’ s not a clear answer, so I am gonna ask you one more question.”
“Fine. I never win you in this. ”mother heaved a long sigh with smile.
“why creator created creatures ”
After thinking for a while, mother gave her answer, “I think, maybe he is too lonely, and he wants some companies. But it is sure we are born to serve, to follow the rules, like seasons changing by rules, and when spring comes, the ices begin to melt, the temperature goes up, the sprouts push up the earth, the flowers unfold their bodies, bees will come out and collect honey. They are all doing their duties, they are all following the rules, rules of nature, rules of the Creator.”
“So, can you tell me what human’s duty is”
“Oh, you really have a lot of questions tonight. But I am not sure what human’ duty is. I am pretty sure it is not to govern the earth, which they have already done. If the Creator shall choose one creature to lead others, I bet he won’ t be so silly to choose human-beings.”
“Why do you think so.”
“Kid, just look at what human has done to the earth. They cut off all the forests then planting few trees on the street. They remove all the lawn and flowers then covering the road with cement and fake flowers. If you look up, you can see a hore right there in the ozone layer. The way they protect other creatures is to build cages, and they would fight each other ten years just because of a woman. The most remarkable contribution they made is to create more ways to die, car accident, air crush, ship wreck, poisoning, gunfight, atomic bomb...”
“Haven’ t they find way to solve these problems”
“Yes, they have. But they never think about the reason why they have done these horrible things. Maybe they just know little about their own world.”
“That’s human, but I still think the Smith are different.”
“why do you think so”
“Well, not like my father, Mr.Smith always dresses smartly. His suit is neat, his face is so fair because he has no beard, and he also can drive to work by days. But my dad, always wear the dirty grey clothes, only dare sneak around at night, and he is always frightened. He is a coward while Mr.Smith is a real man.”
“Honey, that’ s not called coward, that is caution. The world is dangerous, if we want to survive we have to be cautious. Besides, Mr.smith is not what you thought,a real man. Have you ever seen him wearing his wife’ s skirt and putting on makeup A real man will never do that thing. A real man will be the bread-winner for his family, just like your father.”
“Mom, why Mr.Smith wants to do that”
“I don’ t know, honey, maybe Mr.Smith doesn’t know it as well. He even confused about his gender.”
“But I still think Mrs.smith is a different human, she has never wore man’s dress and she know she is a woman, that’ s why she always looks beautiful.”
“No, baby. She dresses up because she is cheating on her husband. And that’ s Mrs.smith all over, she is vain. her soul is empty and lonely but she has never known the material things cannot fix the spiritual hole. She maybe knows a little about herself.”
“That’s a bad news. But how about little Tom He must be the happiest person in the world. He has a lot of toys,he got a TV in his bedroom! And his bed is softer than mine. Not to mention that he has too many snacks to eat ”
“No, baby. Do you ever think why tom has so many toys He has no friends, and his parents never spend time with him, they simply throw Tom to toys and TV. And due to snacks, he is obesity. He is a poor boy. He doesn’t know how to control his emotion and how to express it in proper ways.”
“Mom, I need to apologize that I thought human is the greatest creature in the world and I even wanted to be a human, but now I know human is the saddest creature in the world. I am glad that I am just a little mouse.”
“That’ s my good boy. Now you know human is stupid, they even don’ t know animals can talk!”
There are lots of stories we, human-beings, don’ t know. The world is more marvelous than we see or think. Sometimes what we know is not the truth. It is a waste of time for mankind to speculate or even decide what kind of world it should be because we are really small, compared with the nature. Oh, let’ s finish the story.
“Why the rats are so noisy tonight I am gonna buy a cat tomorrow!” Mrs. Smith is obviously angry about the talk between mother mouse and baby mouse. But how stupid she is! She even doesn’t know the animals can talk!
