16、Chapter 7

　　In the following three days, after several meetings, conflicts just showed up keenly.
　　The job mainly relied on a paunchy bureaucrat who only distribute cases and follow the schedule. Rene often listed several simple notices such as routines, equipment allocation or formal files. However the crowds seemed to direct against Rene who always began talking someone would inserted a pornographic joke and made others laugh out.
　　On the opposite, the most routine careless Anton and Harvey hardly talked.
　　Anton suffered a lot form the bureaucrats who never got on the battle, unrealistic or putting too much attention on details of little significance, so valuable time was lost, some times even subordinates were lost either.
　　Anton looked at Harvey on the other side that with no words aggressively looking at Rene on the stage closed his mouth into a line. Anton could not figure out what he was thinking about.
　　Rene seemed did not care at all or may just take it for granted. He didn’t feel awkward but still being good tempered smiling, just went on his word after the laugh. Sometimes even the paunchy bureaucrat stared at him in anger, ruthlessly condemned him or just turned away directly he never cared.
　　Except meeting time, superiors were seldom seen that Rene never showed up except in meeting not mentioning dealing with Anton. While Anton was busy with his own affairs. His case is about murder in gunrunning.
　　This case was not special but only internal friction between sinister gangs. The only doubt was that those lost goods first belonged to the second largest criminal group, three people died were not general persons, and the amount that lost could build up a whole mini troop or even destroy a middle size city.
　　Anton and Roger quickly ran into collection evidences while time passed with no pause. The next time Anton saw Rene was three days later.
　　When Anton and Roger was analyzing information of the gangs, suddenly heard the quarrel.
　　“Report, report, you damnmit, except for reports, what do you know?”
　　All pointed to that direction, seeing one colleague squabbled with Rene.
　　“Don’t you know, in the time I write the report, my men would die out! While you mother fucker sitting in the office under the air conditioner, one of my men was dying for you! Why shouldn’t I take action? If I do not take actions, my man dies. That’s my brother!”
　　Anton looked out; he didn’t know the name of this colleague but belonged to Harvey’s team.
　　Anton also heard the case this man in chare of happened last night that in this internal friction arisen from drug bargains, as soon as having got the hint they took action but the insider still got badly injured. How the insider was still lying on the bed of hospital. He must be full of rage, now venting out to Rene.
　　Anton glanced at Harvey who still calmly sited there seeing his subordinate venting on Rene.
　　Rene quietly looked at that one,” Marcus, calm down, I will see you in half an hour.”
　　“Are you fucking police? What do you know?” Marcus got even angrier while poking to Rene’s chest with one finger.” That’s my man. “You dammit know what my man is meant?”
　　Rene stepped backward then Marcus intended to move forward while got someone stopped from the backside.
　　“Well, don’t harass on kid around mummy for feeding.” Harvey at last stood up.
　　While the others laughed, Anton nodded head thinking such unscrupulous mock was not good for those narrow tolerant administrators.
　　To his surprised, Rene looked at Harvey and nodded. Anton even found a slightly ridiculous expression in Rene’s eyes.” Harvey, stop your men handing those put off , give me a official report before tomorrow.”
　　“You could leave, you hear it?” Harvey stared at Rene.
　　Rene nodded,” Or oral statement is OK.” Then he turned away.

　　Rene was not like a police officer, in the daytime, he seemed of elegance which could be understood sometimes as arrogance, sometimes coward. He was different from the other police agents which anyone can pick out. So they do not take him as one of themselves.
　　Or Anton remembered Jimmy in the night, it was suitable to dress like that.
