1、第 1 章 ...

  • Judy walked across the street to buy two small Mocha from Starbucks. Since she accepted this offer as being a life assistant for Ms. Peterson last month, she has struggled herself from too many little fragments such as picking up Ms. Peterson's little cat from the pet's clinic and cancling an appointment with a dentist, etc.

To be honest, it was not common for a science student to work as a personal assistant. Even though she had to get up at 2 o'clock in the morning, and even though she had to sacrifice all her personal time, Judy was envied by a bunch of fashionable girls in the city---for her high salary and for being able to be in touch with the most charming and rich young bachelors in the city.

But those jealousy girls didn't know that each night Judy suffered from a nightmare in which she crashed with another yellow truck on her way for picking up a coat for Ms. Peterson.

That nightmare had troubled her for more than 5 years, even before she even got her job from Ms. Peterson.

Judy had thought this dream was just a dream, but the older she got, the more this dream had affected her life because what had happened in her life coincided more and more with her dream.

Just like what happened in her dream, Judy did graduated from Yale University as a science student when she was 22. If that could be explained by logic, then what could explain the assistant position she received from Ms. Peterson, who was the person she worked for in her dream.

Judy had never told anyone about her dream, even to her parents or best friend in the school. Her parents had already worried too much about her, and her best friend may just considered it as a bad joke.

When Judy was thinking about Ms. Peterson' s schedule this weekends----she had to make it clearly written in a timetable by this noon, plus she needed to notify this to Ms. Peterson in a calmly manner---she saw an old fortune teller in sitting by her purple stand, smiling to her in a way she felt a little bit uncomfortable---as if her fate was transparent in front of her.

Judy tried to ignore the old lady's gloomy smile and concentrate on Ms.Peterson's schedule:...dinner with Ms.King on Friday night...followed by a visit from Ms.Peterson's ex-boy friend...An interview at 9 o'clock on Saturday...then, a visit to a women's shelter on downtown eastside...

Calm was the number one qualification for working for Ms. Peterson. As a daughter of a very traditional huge family, anything that was said in loud was considered rude in her minds, and she forced everyone around her to follow the same manner as she did.

When Judy arrived Ms. Peterson's office on the seventh floor of 333 West Esplanade, she looked out of the window---the old fortune teller lady had already gone, which made Judy's little bit relieved.

Because of the repeating nightmare Judy had since she was 17, Judy was always more nervous about anything different or suspicious than others were. Anyway, Judy thought, I would not to be crashed by the yellow truck if I never went to a dry cleaner...
