　　I am so glad to see the update of the story. Over the holiday I had a little time, while waiting for the updates, I went back to read the previous chapters.
After the second time and also read some of comments other readers made, I had some thoughts.
When you said that knowing some readers might freak out because of the first couple chapters and still wrote the sexual assault scene; I, on the other hand, thought this way: Ah, this author is creating a more humane展昭. That is why somehow I could keep on reading.
Unlike drama or movie, which are easier to make a visual impact, writing needs more strength to create such a visual stimulation. I think somehow you needed to write such shocking scene to turn over the stereotype of the perfect 展昭 as usually depicted.
A reader commented on your war scenes. To me it is not a big deal on the details, however, I think, if you like, perhaps you could try to focus on the strength of the main characters, such as 白玉堂 being good at 奇門遁甲 as you wrote a little bit before on previous chapters. It might be somehow interesting if you want to get展昭 and 白玉堂 involved in the war. For me, I am not crazy about宋’s war strategies for they always lost. They still signed the silly treaty even they won. I think it is kind of hard for you make any good story if based on the history.
After reading your new chapter, I feel that 展昭 seems being that gentle person again, especially toward白玉堂. Rescuing the girl and her brother who portrayed him as a bad guy and the memory of 白玉堂 being captured and possibly tortured, turns on 展昭’s soft spot. And yet, 展昭’s desire toward白玉堂 shows his human side. I just like the way you wrote here.
As for 白玉堂, he already said that he did not hate展昭 but he could not forgive 展昭because his pride. It is obvious he is much emotionally attached to 展昭, otherwise he would help展昭that much even after what展昭did to him. However, he also said to 展昭 that perhaps after a few years he would have a different thought. That is what I thought too. It would not be an issue of forgiving or not, he would simply forget and leave it behind when the time has come. I agree that what you replied on my comments before that you need to push白玉堂to be more mature in order to offset his tragic ending in the original novel. I think part of the reasons of his death in the novel is his immaturity.
Still 白玉堂 is still my favorite character in the original novel. 胡適先生 commented on三俠五義 saying that白玉堂 is one of most successfully created character in the novel. Of course, who could not love him? He is like rising star which shines the world. He is as if a sweet clear spring begins to rise in a stagnant pool and rises until at last it sweeps the dark water away.
On the one hand, I am eagerly to see how you will continue the story; on the other hand, I do not want the story end too soon. They will always be a legend. On the earth, there is only 展昭 and there is only one 白玉堂. I am actually thinking tenderly how magnificent it is that their story is as if the water is past all moods and tenses of emotion and has settled down to a tranquility unbroken by fickle dreams. The legend will go on and they will be the way they were even when we become old.
I am just grateful that you are making such effort creating such a good story. I can not be tired of reading it.
